GRC chairman, Dr. Turky Alsolmi , established a research and Publication Committee to boost research activities in JCC. A series of presentations and a plethora of linguistic and pedagogical issues will be discussed under the aegis of this committee. To keep the ball rolling, Dr. Jameel Ahmad, an associate professor in Applied Linguistics, gave his maiden presentation on ‘publishing a scientific research paper in ISI Journal: An Explanation of the Process’ on 20th NOV 2014 in JCC seminar room. an indigenous researcher thinks a lot, reads a lot, keeps in touch with his domain and reflects his experiences and scientific temper to produce a new and prodigious research.
While writing a research paper, he said, one should keep in mind the following points: first the relevance between his domain of research and choice of topic, secondly the selection of the relevant ISI journals from KAU database and then the thorough reading of the journals’ guidelines. For a research to be scientific, the formulation of scientific format needs to be followed. The scientific format includes Title, Abstract, keywords, introduction, Research Hypotheses, Methods, Result, Discussion, Conclusion Acknowledgements, and References. Dr. Ahmad had interactive discussion on all these components. He further emphasized the synthesis of quantitative and qualitative research, and focused on the reliability and validity of research. According to him, If one abides by the scientific format and writes his research paper in exquisite style, the acceptance is most likely to happen. No matter, if one tries and fails, but one should never fail to try. This is the key to success in life.
